Why Evangelicals are so Mad
I am not beating on Evangelicals for nothing or with evil intent. In any case, I would consider myself closely aligned to their beliefs, if only they weren't so mad. Evangelicals being mad isn't the cutest thing, and its nowhere near the meekness and calmness that's taught in the teachings of Jesus. These days they are throwing things in school board meetings to protest mask mandates, showing up at the Capitol to protest a supposedly stolen election and hang Mike Pence. Evangelical beliefs without biblical knowledge have always been fertile ground for conspiracy theories because of mysteries surrounding end times. There are scriptures'-driven Evangelicals out there, at least when I was part of this group, the message wasn't so wacky and convoluted with conspiracies. Now, Evangelicals have been infiltrated by people who are right wing extremists, never once did I think Evangelicals were so radical. Clearly, they have adopted extremist ideals similar to those of the Islamic extremists. These beliefs were always under the surface but now have been brought to the fore, and its embarrassing.
You only need to watch Christian stations to understand how much Evangelicals have corrupted themselves. It used to be normal to listen to a preacher deliver a message straight out of the Bible, and you would be uplifted. Not anymore, these days you are bombarded by election fraud claims, and how corrupt Democrats have destroyed the country. A notable thing is how prophecy and sentiment quickly shifted from one president to another. Yes, most of what is prophecy in Evangelical circles is conspiracy laden, but since Biden took power, it has been doom and gloom. During Trump years, it was all about God saving America by using Trump as his vessel. I don't hear these evangelicals pray for Biden at all, and the hate for Obama would pass for hate crimes, yet they were fervent praying for Trump. Its then that you wonder why they would complain when in their eyes America is going in the wrong direction, yet they cannot honor the most basic of commands, to pray for your leaders, whoever they are.
The underlying sentiment fueling anger among evangelicals is the sheer fact that they no longer feel in control. Even after they got all they wanted from Trump, from Supreme Court nominees who could finally grant them their wish to scrap Roe v. Wade, they are still dissatisfied since their man is not in the White House. You just have to watch the My Pillow Guy, to understand how the average evangelical feels. The antics and the false beliefs that Mike Lindell propagates are believed by almost a half of Americans the vast of which are evangelicals who think God backs their claims. The Evangelicals leaders are manipulative to say the least, and care about when they will be invited to the White House, not the current one, not because Biden has disinvited them, but the disdain for the man cannot be overcome by the love Christ preached.
A lot can be said about Evangelical convergence with conservative beliefs, the fact that America was built upon biblical values yet slavery became the original sin that broke the first commandment and the Constitution. The very fact that slavery happened in America goes against any belief that it was built purely on godly principles, rather it is the capitalistic intentions to exploit other human beings that overpowered the good intentions of one nation under God. Yet, without shame evangelicals are the loudest to criticize the 1619 Project, because they want to bury this part of the founding of America that isn't so Christian. If the Bible obliterated bits like slavery in Egypt because todays Egyptians would be uncomfortable, it wouldn't be an authentic book. Yet, evangelicals and their right -wing media minions want to paint Americas history as picture perfect, which is far from true.
There is nothing that has exposed untruthful evangelicals like the Covid19 pandemic and 2020 elections. The loud proclamation that the virus was a hoax, was echoed from the White House, to every pulpit that believed this lie. This was a preparation to an even bigger lie, when Trump claimed that he had won the elections, the same was echoed by pastors and their followers who happen to be Trump followers. Either, Evangelicals have been sucked into Trumps world of lies, or Trump has been sucked into Evangelical conspiracies. Worse still, the Trump victory predictions didn't come true which was a double whammy for a group already dealing with claims of a stolen election. The sad fact is that evangelicals ignored truth and democratic values because it wasn't politically expedient. Even in the founding of America, human rights and biblical values were shunned to accommodate capitalistic gains riding on free labor of black people, and yet still, we are one nation under God.
Vaccines have become the latest battlefield for evangelicals. No amount of research or death can convince many to change their minds, and now it has become a fight of the ignorant. Only now have I come to believe that influence does not equal knowledge, and may be the people I have listened to for spiritual nourishment are a bunch of illiterates who boast about their theological degrees which is not enough to guide people in a science driven world. Most of the evangelical leaders have this know-it-all attitude to offer guidance even in areas they are visibly unqualified. I am in awe at how anti-science people in religious circles have become, that's why I have become an independent thinker and believer, no longer swayed by every doctrine or conspiracy theories from a pulpit, because I still believe in common sense. Yes, common sense is what's lacking among evangelicals, in any case, truth cannot be twisted. And when truth is no longer twistable, they have resorted to grievance, because they are unwilling to change their stance. Because things remain unchanged, evangelicals have resorted to tantrums that have boiled over into public spaces. The once close knit community with manners have shown their ignorance for all to see, because they are losing control of their vision of America. The sad part is that these people have abandoned their love for God and other human beings. They see how much influence they had over Trump, and can no longer invite themselves to the White House as spiritual counselors. Once they have seen what proximity to power can do, there is no going back. They will stay mad.
